Here's what it looked like in context:

Signed on October 3rd at a little after 10PM during an event at Kepler's Books and Magazines in Menlo Park, CA. Neil is a very funny, very cool fellow, and was incredibly nice given that he had probably signed almost 500+ books before me and given that he openly talks about how much he doesn't really care for signing anymore, I was definitely surprised. Pleasantly though!

HOWEVER! Even though I rarely ever go to Menlo Park, if I need a book fix, I will never ever shop at Kepler's due to how rudely both myself and my friend were treated while there. We were only seen as giant walking wallets, and were practically refused a signing because we did not purchase Neil's new book Fragile Things from them (they did not mention this on their website- in fact, it said Neil would sign two books and did not say one of them would be his new one). I had already bought a pre-signed copy of it at the Berkeley event the night before, but explaining that was like talking to a stone wall. Eventually, a super nice guy behind me lent me his extra copy and the surly staff member left me alone, but man! So annoying.

This past Friday, one of my roommates and I walked up to Alamo Square to finally see the Painted Ladies of Full House fame. The weather was perfect for an uphill stroll (i.e. insanely cold and windy, but lovely once you've worked up a sweat). There were much more beautiful victorians other than the famous six in the area, but I'll leave that for another post.

Here's the view that you usually see taken.  Beautiful houses, but I really couldn't imagine living there, even if I had the money.
